I was in town for a conference earlier in the week and there wasn’t availability at the host hotel for Friday night. So I tried this out. I arrived at 9pm after a day of mountain biking at Split Rock. Check-in was easy and after a quick tour, all I wanted was hot shower and a bed. Restroom and shower was clean, plenty of hot water, and great water pressure. The bed must have been comfortable as I didn’t wake up until my alarm went off and I’m a light sleeper. Made coffee and headed to the airport. Great value and clean facilities.

Absolute go-to! We were visiting from Minneapolis and stayed here in a big/double bed. The service was great, the bed was super comfy and clean, and most importantly, everyone was kind, interesting and respectful. The space is awesome! The back patio/deck is cozy and feels private enough to relax but open to meeting other folks staying from all over. I have stayed in a lot of hostels (used to live in Rome, and that's how folks travel over there) and this had all the good qualities of a European hostel - the kitchen is up-to-date, clean and has everything you need; people are social but doin' their own thing, and it's right in the heart of the city, walking distance from canal park and lots of great bars and restaurants. There's ample safe/off-street parking behind the hostel. We didn't use the sauna and cold plunge this time, but we plan to come back in the winter to try it out - it was pretty and clean. We walked over to a brewery where there was good live music and an arts fair happening, and down to the lake to have a picnic. I will say: if you are someone who needs a lot of privacy or has a super weird sleep schedule this might not be the right fit; it's a curtain that separates your space from shared (but quiet, not-gathering) space. For us that was good and fine, but different than a hotel with a private suite. Thanks for a great trip, Hostel du Nord!

This was my first time staying in a hostel and the staff at Hostel du Nord were very welcoming and accommodating. I do plan to go back and will check out more hostels across the country in the future.

Excellent place to stay, right in downtown Duluth. Walk to all the nearby attractions. Easy access to hike & bike trails. Very friendly staff, with clean & comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended 👍

Awesome place to stay when traveling to Duluth. Have stayed here twice once for a Ragnar race once for Grandmas Marathon and every was great fro the staff to the rooms to the location!

It’s a different experience than a hotel, but the shared spaces were clean and functional. I especially enjoyed the sauna (nice and high benches, although you should plan a bit ahead as it’s on a 60-minute timer and takes about 30+ mins to heat up enough) and cold plunge, which were perfect after running the Duluth trails. The hostel is in a great central downtown location. The parking situation was slightly confusing, but they give you a map of where you can park and when it’s okay to park certain places. Value-wise seems a bit steep for shared space, but less expensive than other options on a weekend in Duluth. I would definitely consider it again.

After a BWCAW paddle trip, I found myself with two full days in Duluth. Hotel in and around Canal Park we very pricey, and all needed was a bed. The owner and team at Hostel du Nord were FANTASTIC! A nod to Daniel (owner) who is working tirelessly to get the property developed and expanded. You need to know, it is NOT a hotel! It is communal co-lodging! You will ser, talk and interact with lots or people. Beds go from bunks to "semi private" rooms. You may hear a person arriving late and fumbling to get to bed or leaving early for a Sunday breakfast at Uncle Joe's diner (recommended) The bed are clean,comfortable and the shared areas are well maintained. I loved my stay! Enjoyed talking to other sojorners and using the Hostal as a central base to see all the Duluth has to offer. A few notes - * Lots of stairs! If you can't handle stairs go elsewhere. * Lots of parking ( not sure if cost, I did not drive) * Bring a blindfold and foam earplugs to ensure a good night sleep. * FULL SAUNA!! - honestly to biggest boiler, hottest sauna, with full steam I have ever experienced ( be careful and know your heat limits) it kicked my butt! ( I a good way) * Lots of bathrooms all with private showers. * Great staff ( Super helpful) * Semi-Private room a short level walk from check-in * Nice full shared kitchen, sink. , fridge, dishwasher, outdoor patio (sparse) * Alley entrance avoids one front door flight of stairs, used everytime after first time. * Lots of clean towels and sheets available * Free internet If you choose to stay and I hope you do! Bring a good attitude and a swt of headphone if you want to watch you device latenight. John
